The Mercusys MR37BE is a BE6500 dual-band Wi-Fi 7 router with signal rates of up to 5760 Mbps on 5 GHz and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. It has a 2.5 Gbps WAN port, a 2.5 Gbps LAN port and two gigabit LAN ports, six external antennas, Multi-Link Operation, EasyMesh compatibility and setup through the MERCUSYS app.

MR37BE overview

The MR37BE brings Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) to a home network in a dual-band router. Mercusys rates it at up to 5760 Mbps on 5 GHz and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, uses channels up to 160 MHz wide and 4K-QAM modulation, and lists Multi-Link Operation (MLO), Multi-RUs, OFDMA, MU-MIMO and Beamforming among its advanced features. It remains backwards compatible with 802.11ax/ac/a/b/g/n devices. Mercusys describes Wi-Fi 7 as offering accelerated throughput, lower latency, stronger anti-jamming and higher efficiency, and positions the MR37BE for 8K streaming, VR/AR, video conferencing, online gaming and fast downloads.

The MR37BE has 1 x 2.5 Gbps WAN port, 1 x 2.5 Gbps LAN port and 2 x 1 Gbps LAN ports. Mercusys says this lets you take full advantage of your broadband speed, and suggests plugging PCs, smart TVs, game consoles or NAS devices into the ports for a fast wired connection. WAN connection types include Dynamic IP, Static IP, PPPoE, PPTP and L2TP, with IPv4 and IPv6, and IPTV support covers IGMP Proxy, IGMP Snooping, Bridge/Custom and Tag VLAN. The router can also run in Access Point mode.

Coverage comes from six external antennas, four for 5 GHz and two for 2.4 GHz, which Mercusys combines with its Wi-Fi optimisation and Beamforming for broader coverage, more capacity and less interference. Mercusys lists the MR37BE as EasyMesh compatible. Wireless functions include a guest network on both bands, a separate IoT network, Smart Connect, wireless scheduling, WPS, AP isolation and Airtime Fairness. Security covers WPA, WPA2 and WPA3, an SPI firewall, access control and IP and MAC binding, and parental controls offer profiles, time control, pausing the internet and website filtering.

The MR37BE includes a VPN client supporting OpenVPN, WireGuard, PPTP and L2TP/IPSec, and DDNS through MERCUSYS, NO-IP or DynDNS. QoS provides time settings and priority control. Setup is through the MERCUSYS app on iOS or Android, which Mercusys says gets the router running in minutes and lets you manage Wi-Fi at home or away, or through the web interface. The router measures 258 x 119 x 43.3 mm, weighs 600 g, installs on a desk or wall, and runs from a 12 V / 2 A adapter. In the box are the MR37BE, a power adapter, a quick installation guide and an RJ45 Ethernet cable. ARC IP Networks supplies the MR37BE from Australian stock with the full manufacturer's warranty.
