The Mercusys MR25BE is a compact BE3600 dual band Wi-Fi 7 router. It offers 2880 Mbps on 5 GHz and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz with Multi-Link Operation, 4K-QAM and 160 MHz channels, four fixed omnidirectional antennas with beamforming, and four gigabit Ethernet ports: one WAN and three LAN.

MR25BE overview

The MR25BE is an entry point to Wi-Fi 7 for gigabit connections. It is a BE3600 dual band router compatible with 802.11be/ax/ac/a/b/g/n devices, with signal rates of 2880 Mbps on 5 GHz and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. Mercusys positions it for 8K streaming, VR and AR, video calls, online gaming and quick downloads. Those rates are physical rates from the IEEE 802.11 standard; actual throughput, coverage and connected devices vary with the provider, network conditions, clients and the building.

Wi-Fi 7 features on the MR25BE are Multi-Link Operation, 160 MHz channels, 4K-QAM and Multi-RUs. Multi-Link Operation lets a device send and receive across different bands at once, and 4K-QAM carries 12 bits per symbol instead of 10, which Mercusys describes as 20% more data. All of these need Wi-Fi 7 or Wi-Fi 6 clients that support the same features. Mercusys also warns that 160 MHz on 5 GHz may be unavailable in some countries because of regulation, that the router may not support every mandatory feature in the IEEE 802.11be specification, and that further software updates may be needed.

Four fixed omnidirectional antennas work with beamforming and Mercusys's own Wi-Fi optimisation to widen coverage and reduce interference. On the wired side there is one 1 Gbps WAN port and three 1 Gbps LAN ports for PCs, TVs, consoles or a NAS. The MR25BE is EasyMesh-compatible, so it can share one network name and password with other EasyMesh routers and extenders. Mercusys adds that mixed-vendor setups may not connect because of firmware conflicts, that the feature is still maturing on some models, and that the MR25BE has not been certified under the Wi-Fi EasyMesh programme.

For privacy, the router includes VPN server and client support for OpenVPN, PPTP, L2TP and WireGuard, and Mercusys describes a kill switch that cuts the internet connection if the VPN drops, so traffic does not leak through an unencrypted link. Other features are WPA3 security (clients must support it), guest networks on both bands, parental controls with per-person profiles, time limits, site blocking and a pause option, a DHCP server, port forwarding, port triggering, UPnP and DMZ, an SPI firewall with IP and MAC binding, and local and remote management. WAN types are Dynamic IP, Static IP, PPPoE, L2TP and PPTP.

Setup and day-to-day control run through the Mercusys app on iOS or Android, which guides you through installation without prior technical knowledge. Mercusys lists its lab reliability testing for this model: at least 1,500 hours of stability testing in a device-rich setting, 10,000 power cycles, 7,200 hours in extreme environments, 100 vibration cycles, 30 drops from 80 cm onto concrete and 900,000 memory read/write cycles. The case measures 167 x 117.5 x 41.5 mm, with reset and WPS buttons, and operates from 0 to 40 °C.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about the MR25BE from the ARC IP Networks team.

Last reviewed October 2026.

It is a BE3600 router: 2880 Mbps on 5 GHz and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. These are maximum signal rates, not guaranteed throughput.

Both are BE3600 with the same Wi-Fi rates. The MR27BE adds a 2.5 Gbps WAN port and a 2.5 Gbps LAN port; the MR25BE uses four gigabit ports in a smaller case.

No, it works with 802.11ax/ac/a/b/g/n devices. MLO, 4K-QAM and Multi-RUs need clients that support them.

Yes. Mercusys lists VPN server and client support for OpenVPN, PPTP, L2TP and WireGuard, and a kill switch.

It is EasyMesh-compatible, so it can join EasyMesh routers and extenders. Cross-vendor connections may fail on firmware conflicts, and it is not Wi-Fi EasyMesh certified.

Four: one 1 Gbps WAN port and three 1 Gbps LAN ports.

Mercusys notes 160 MHz on 5 GHz may be unavailable in some regions due to regulatory restrictions.

Router, power adapter, Quick Installation Guide and one RJ45 Ethernet cable.
