The TP-Link MC1400 is an Omada 14-Slot Rackmount Chassis that houses up to 14 Omada media converters and powers them centrally, saving space and power cables. Each slot supplies 9 VDC / 0.6 A, and the chassis supports hot-swapping, so converters can be installed or removed without powering it off. An optional redundant power supply (MCRP100) adds continuity, and two internal cooling fans aid ventilation. It is a standard 19-inch, 2U rack-mountable unit. For TP-Link media converters, it supports MCXXX hardware version 2.0 and above, not version 1.0. Supplied by ARC IP Networks from Australian stock with the full manufacturer's warranty.

The TP-Link MC1400 is an Omada 14-slot rackmount chassis that holds up to 14 Omada media converters with a central power supply, saving space and power cables. It is a standard 19-inch 2U unit with 100-240 VAC input, 14 x 9 VDC / 0.6 A power outputs, hot-swapping, an optional redundant power supply and two internal cooling fans.

MC1400 overview

The MC1400 is TP-Link's Omada 14-slot rackmount chassis. TP-Link describes it as specially designed to accommodate 14 Omada media converters with a central power supply, saving space and power cables. In other words, the chassis is both a mounting point and the central power source for up to 14 Omada media converters. TP-Link positions it together with the Omada MC series Gigabit and Fast Ethernet media converters, describing the combination as the ideal solution for a media conversion network. The chassis takes 100 to 240 VAC at 50/60 Hz and provides fourteen power outputs, each rated 9 VDC / 0.6 A, and TP-Link lists the fan quantity as two.

Continuity is the focus of the design. TP-Link notes that continuous operation is important to fibre communication, so the chassis is equipped with an optional redundant power supply and a hot-swapping function. Hot-swapping allows a converter to be installed or removed without powering off the chassis. The redundant power supply is listed by TP-Link as optional, and both features are presented as answers to the need for continuous operation in fibre communication.

To stabilise performance and extend the lifetime of the installed converters, TP-Link fits two cooling fans inside the MC1400. Physically it is a standard 19-inch, 2U-high chassis measuring 482 x 309 x 86 mm, so it fits a conventional 19-inch equipment rack. With up to 14 converters in two rack units, it concentrates a large number of fibre-to-copper conversions into a centrally powered position, which is the space and cable saving TP-Link describes.

The MC1400 is rated for operating temperatures of 0 to 40 degrees C and storage temperatures from -40 to 70 degrees C, with 10 to 90% non-condensing operating humidity and 5 to 90% non-condensing storage humidity. In summary, TP-Link's published specification for the MC1400 covers 14 converter slots, a central power supply, hot-swapping, an optional redundant power supply, two cooling fans, 100 to 240 VAC input, 14 x 9 VDC / 0.6 A outputs and a standard 19-inch, 2U chassis of 482 x 309 x 86 mm. ARC IP Networks supplies the MC1400 from Australian stock with the full manufacturer's warranty.
