Optional Meraki mounts: MA-MNT-ANT-1, MA-MNT-ANT-2, MA-MNT-ANT-5.

The Cisco Meraki in depth

Indoor smart antenna family

The MA-ANT-3 family pairs with Meraki indoor "E" access points: types A and B are omni dipoles, while C to F are directional or panel smart antennas with integrated cables that self-identify to the AP. The MA-ANT-3-E5 is the 5-port MR42E wide patch model.

Why five or six ports

The MR42E (3x3:3) has five ports and the MR53E/MR46E (4x4:4) have six, because they add a dedicated dual-band scanning radio for WIPS and spectrum analysis plus a BLE/IoT radio. The antennas give matching coverage across all radios.

End-of-sale

Meraki has announced end-of-sale for MA-ANT-3 antennas and the MR46E on Dec 31, 2026, with support to Dec 31, 2031.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about the Cisco Meraki from the ARC IP Networks team. Last reviewed October 2026.

The 5-series antennas are for the five-port, 3x3:3 Wi-Fi 5 MR42E, which is end-of-sale. Outdoor APs and indoor APs with internal antennas do not support it.

Yes. It has five RP-TNC cables: four white-jacketed cables for the three 2.4/5 GHz ports and the Scan port, and one grey cable for the IoT port.

Yes. The C/D/E/F antennas self-identify and are detected automatically by the AP. Once detected, the antenna cannot be changed in the dashboard until it is removed and the AP rebooted.

No. Meraki does not support indoor antennas on outdoor APs; they use RP-TNC rather than N connectors and include scanning and IoT connections that outdoor APs do not have.

Meraki has announced end-of-sale for the MA-ANT-3 antennas (for MR42E, MR53E and MR46E): last order date Dec 31, 2026, end of support Dec 31, 2031. Meraki's EOL list does not name a replacement antenna; the Wi-Fi 7 CW9174E has its own CW-ANT antenna family.
