Key features

Meraki Enterprise licence and support for one MS425-32 switch, 5-year term.

Classic MS licences are per model and not transferable between switch models: this licence covers the MS425-32 only.

MS licences come in Enterprise and Advanced tiers; the Advanced tier is only available for MS130, MS150, MS390 and selected Catalyst -M models, so the MS425-32 uses Enterprise.

Enables management from the Meraki dashboard, including automatic firmware upgrades, SNMP/Syslog, IPv4/6 ACLs, 802.1Q VLANs, DHCP snooping and 802.1X.

If an organisation exceeds its licence limit or licences expire, it enters a 30-day grace period before shutdown.

Covered hardware: Layer 3 cloud-managed aggregation switch (32x 10G SFP+, 2x 40G QSFP+).

MS licences are available in 1, 3, 5, 7 and 10 year terms.

In co-termination licensing the term is added to the organisation's licence pool and averaged into a shared co-term date.

The Cisco LIC-MS425-32-5YR in depth

What this licence does

The Cisco LIC-MS425-32-5YR is a 5-year Meraki Enterprise licence and support for one MS425-32 switch, a Layer 3 cloud-managed aggregation switch (32x 10G SFP+, 2x 40G QSFP+). Classic MS licences are per model, so it covers the MS425-32 only. The MS425-32 hardware reached end-of-sale on June 24, 2024; end-of-support is September 28, 2029.

Licensing and lifecycle

Meraki MS licences are tied to the switch model, and an organisation must hold a licence for every switch it manages; if it exceeds its licence limit or licences expire, it enters a 30-day grace period before shutdown. Cisco Meraki named the Catalyst C9300X-24Y-M (24x 25GE, with Meraki) as the replacement for the MS425-32, with MS425-32 end-of-support on September 28, 2029.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about the Cisco LIC-MS425-32-5YR from the ARC IP Networks team. Last reviewed October 2026.

One Meraki MS425-32 switch. MS licences are per model and not transferable, so other MS models need their own licence.

No. Cisco Meraki set the MS425-32 end-of-sale date as June 24, 2024 and end-of-support as September 28, 2029, naming the Catalyst C9300X-24Y-M (24x 25GE, with Meraki) as the replacement. Licences for existing MS425-32 switches remain the way to keep them licensed until end-of-support.

No. The Meraki Advanced tier is only available for the MS130, MS150, MS390 and selected Catalyst -M models; the MS425-32 uses the Enterprise licence.

The organisation enters a 30-day grace period; if it is not brought back into compliance it is shut down until proper licensing is applied.

No. Meraki states a warranty is not the same as a licence. MS switches carry a lifetime warranty, and product lifetime ends at the end-of-support date.
