Best for

  • Licensing an existing MS390 still in service
  • Renewing or extending a Meraki co-term organisation
  • Keeping cloud-managed switches in licence compliance

Key features

Meraki Enterprise licence for one 24-port MS390 switch, 1-year term.

MS390 licences map to hardware by port count: 24-port or 48-port licences, each in Enterprise and Advanced tiers.

The Enterprise tier excludes the Advanced-only features: Adaptive Policy, NetFlow v10 (IPFIX) and Encrypted Traffic Analytics.

In co-term organisations MS390 licences must be all Enterprise or all Advanced; they cannot be mixed.

Catalyst 9300-M switches in the same co-term organisation need the same licence edition as the MS390.

Meraki Support cannot upgrade an MS390 licence from Enterprise to Advanced; the upgrade is bought as a new licence.

MS licences are offered in 1, 3, 5, 7 and 10 year terms.

Co-term licences start consuming time from the date they are processed, not when added to an organisation.

Exceeding the licence limit or expiry starts a 30-day grace period before the organisation is shut down.

The Cisco LIC-MS390-24E-1Y in depth

What this licence does

The LIC-MS390-24E-1Y licenses one 24-port MS390 switch on the Meraki Enterprise tier for 1 year. MS390 licences are mapped by port count, and an organisation on co-term licensing must keep all MS390 licences on one tier. Every Meraki device needs a valid licence to operate in the dashboard.

Lifecycle

The MS390 24-port hardware reached end-of-sale on 28 March 2025 and end-of-support is 28 March 2032; Cisco Meraki names the matching 24-port C9300-M (C9300-24T-M, C9300-24P-M, C9300-24U-M, C9300-24UX-M) as the replacement.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about the Cisco LIC-MS390-24E-1Y from the ARC IP Networks team. Last reviewed October 2026.

One 24-port MS390 switch. MS390 licences are mapped by port count (24-port or 48-port) rather than by individual model.

Advanced adds Adaptive Policy, NetFlow v10 (IPFIX) and Encrypted Traffic Analytics. In co-term organisations MS390 licences cannot be mixed between tiers, and an Enterprise licence cannot be upgraded to Advanced; Advanced must be bought as a new licence.

In the co-termination model every licence claimed to an organisation shares one expiry date, calculated by averaging all active licences over the licensed device count, and time is counted from the date the licence is processed.

The organisation enters a 30-day grace period; if it is not brought back into compliance it is shut down.
