Key features

Meraki Enterprise licence and support for one MS130 compact (8/12-port) switch, 3-year term.

Covers the MS130-8, MS130-8P, MS130-8P-I, MS130-8X and MS130-12X.

MS130 licensing has two tiers, Enterprise and Advanced.

Enterprise is available in 1, 3, 5, 7 and 10 year terms.

MS130 Advanced only provides Adaptive Policy as an additional feature.

Classic MS licences are per model class and not transferable between switch models.

In co-term, all MS130s in an organisation must be Enterprise or all Advanced, and must match the tier already used by MS390/C9300/MS150 switches.

Per-device licensing organisations can mix tiers, though Adaptive Policy may need Advanced on all devices.

The Cisco LIC-MS130-CMPT-3Y in depth

What this licence does

The Cisco LIC-MS130-CMPT-3Y is a 3-year Meraki Enterprise licence and support for one MS130 compact (8/12-port) switch (MS130-8, MS130-8P, MS130-8P-I, MS130-8X and MS130-12X). Every Meraki switch needs a valid licence to operate; the Advanced tier adds Adaptive Policy.

Tiers and co-termination

MS130 licensing has Enterprise and Advanced tiers; for the MS130, Advanced only adds Adaptive Policy. In a co-term organisation, licences share one expiry date and all MS130s must use the same tier.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about the Cisco LIC-MS130-CMPT-3Y from the ARC IP Networks team. Last reviewed October 2026.

One MS130 compact (8/12-port) switch: the MS130-8, MS130-8P, MS130-8P-I, MS130-8X and MS130-12X.

For the MS130, the Advanced licence only provides Adaptive Policy as an additional feature over Enterprise.

Not in a co-term organisation: all MS130s must be Enterprise or all Advanced, matching any MS390/C9300 switches already licensed. Per-device organisations can mix tiers, but Adaptive Policy may need Advanced on all devices.

In the co-termination model every licence claimed to an organisation shares one expiry date, calculated by averaging all active licences over the licensed device count, and time is counted from the date the licence is processed rather than when it is added in the dashboard.

The organisation enters a 30-day grace period; if it is not brought back into compliance it is shut down until proper licensing is applied. Network clients see no difference during the grace period.
