Best for

  • Scaling PPPoE/L2TP LAC and LNS subscriber counts
  • Broadband, ISG and SP Wi-Fi (iWAG) aggregation
  • Per-subscriber firewall on broadband sessions

Key features

Adds up to 48K broadband sessions on a Cisco ASR 1000 Series router.

Works on top of the FLASR1-BB-RTU licence, which enables Broadband, SP Wi-Fi, ISG and iWAG for up to 500 sessions.

Session licences can be combined, for example a 16,000-session licence plus a 4,000-session licence for 20,000 additional sessions.

For LAC and LNS, sessions are counted as PPP sessions; L2TP tunnels are not counted as sessions.

ISG, PMIPv6 MAG and iWAG feature sets are covered under the broadband RTU, with session licences based on subscriber count.

Per-subscriber firewall needs the firewall RTU licence plus session licences.

All licences on the ASR 1000 Series are honor-based and are not enforced through a Product Activation Key (PAK).

Maximum sessions for a given RP and ESP combination depend on the features enabled.

The Cisco L-FLASR1-BB-48K= in depth

What this licence does

The L-FLASR1-BB-48K= raises the broadband session count on a Cisco ASR 1000 router. Cisco's ordering guide requires the FLASR1-BB-RTU licence to enable Broadband, SP Wi-Fi, ISG and iWAG (covering 500 sessions); number-of-sessions licences such as this one add capacity, and several can be stacked to reach the required count.
