The TP-Link Omada Fusion 2.5G PoE Gateway integrates a gateway and an Omada controller into a single device, with licence-free cloud management. It has nine 2.5G RJ45 ports (one WAN and eight LAN/WAN, all eight with PoE+ and a 110 W total budget), up to eight simultaneous WANs, a quad-core CPU, IPS/IDS rated at 2,183 Mbps, Omada LightLink VPN, full-mesh SD-WAN and a 3.69-inch touchscreen, and TP-Link recommends it for up to 30 Omada devices and 300 clients.

Fusion 2.5G PoE overview

The Omada Fusion 2.5G PoE Gateway combines a gateway and a controller in one device. TP-Link positions it at the centre of the Omada networking ecosystem, unifying networking and centralised management with licence-free cloud control straight out of the box: the built-in controller gives full access to all features from day one with no additional licences, supports centralised multi-site management through the Omada Cloud Management Platform, and lets administrators access and control the network remotely through the Omada Cloud portal via web or the Omada app. Local management is also available. TP-Link recommends the Fusion 2.5G PoE for up to 30 managed Omada devices and up to 300 connected clients, noting that controller and management features may vary with the connected Omada devices, software versions and deployment modes, and that the stated management capacity is based on laboratory testing. The built-in controller provides automatic device discovery, network topology, a dashboard, device and client lists, logs, alerts and events, batch firmware upgrades, health monitoring, internet activity, captive portal, RADIUS/LDAP and 802.1X authentication and OUI-based VLAN.

What sets this model apart is power over Ethernet. It has nine 2.5G RJ45 ports: one 2.5G WAN port and eight 2.5G LAN/WAN ports, and all eight LAN/WAN ports provide PoE+ output from a 110 W total budget. TP-Link notes that PoE budget calculations are based on laboratory testing and that the actual budget will vary with client limitations and environmental factors. That lets a small site power Omada access points and other PoE devices directly from the gateway, and TP-Link says the full 2.5G ports handle Wi-Fi 7 access points and high-speed NAS traffic without bottlenecks. Up to eight ports can be used as WANs at the same time, with multi-WAN load balancing and automatic failover. WAN connection types include Static IP, Dynamic IP, PPPoE, PPTP, L2TP, MAP-E and DS-Lite, and IPv6 is supported. A quad-core CPU and 2 GB of DDR4 memory run both the gateway and the controller.

Security and remote access are built in. Signature-based IPS/IDS is rated at 2,183 Mbps upload and 2,152 Mbps download, and DPI at 2,206 / 2,219 Mbps; TP-Link notes that actual throughput with IPS/IDS enabled may vary with traffic conditions, enabled features and network environment. There is application- and category-level access control, content filtering by URL category with ad blocking, allow and block lists, Safe Search, secure DNS (DNSSEC, DoH, DoT), a stateful firewall, attack defence, ARP inspection, MAC filtering and IP-MAC binding. Omada LightLink VPN gives one-click secure remote access, with Smart Split Tunneling sending only essential traffic through the VPN. Site-to-site VPN uses WireGuard or IPsec (1,023 Mbps, based on IPsec VPN), VPN servers cover WireGuard, OpenVPN, IPsec, SSL, L2TP and PPTP, and full-mesh SD-WAN connects up to 20 sites even without public IP addresses; SD-WAN can only be configured via the Omada Cloud Portal.

Deployment is designed to be quick. You set the gateway up over Bluetooth with the Omada app, then automatically discover and batch adopt the other Omada devices on the network. A 3.69-inch colour touchscreen shows network health scores, speed tests, alerts and real-time traffic for basic diagnostics on the device, which TP-Link says reduces on-site visits. One-click Auto QoS presets or custom rules prioritise critical traffic. The gateway sits on a desk as is; wall mounting needs the magnetic-mount plate and rack mounting needs the rackmount kit, both sold separately. It measures 226 x 135 x 31.5 mm, weighs 728 g, runs from a 54 V / 2.43 A adapter with a maximum power consumption of 131 W, and has a fan that TP-Link lists as running in fanless mode under typical conditions. ARC IP Networks supplies the Fusion 2.5G PoE from Australian stock with the full manufacturer's warranty.
