Best for

  • Replacing the system SSD in a Firepower 2130 or 2140
  • Keeping a spare drive for a Firepower 2100 estate
  • Restoring a chassis after an SSD failure alert

Key features

200 GB SSD for the Firepower 2130 and 2140 (Cisco: SSD for Firepower 2130 and 2140).

The Firepower 2130 and 2140 ship with one 200-GB SSD in slot 1.

Cisco restricts the 200-GB SSD to the 2130 and 2140; do not mix with the 2110/2120 drive.

Larger SSDs Cisco may ship for supply reasons are formatted to the same capacity.

Slot 2 is reserved for the optional Malware Storage Pack (MSP); RAID is not supported.

SSDs cannot be swapped between Firepower platforms (for example, a 4100 Series SSD in a 2100).

Power down the chassis before replacing it: the software does not support SSD hot swap.

End-of-sale date May 27, 2025; last date of support May 31, 2030.

Figures from Cisco's official data sheet.

The Cisco FPR2K-SSD200 in depth

The Firepower 2100 system drive

The Firepower 2130 and 2140 have two SSD slots and ship with one 200-GB SSD in slot 1. The FPR2K-SSD200 is that drive; slot 2 is only used for the optional Malware Storage Pack.

Replacing the SSD

Although the hardware supports hot swapping, the software does not, so Cisco says to power down the chassis first. The 200-GB SSD is restricted to the 2130 and 2140, and SSDs cannot be moved between Firepower platforms.
