The TP-Link ES205GP is an Omada 5-port Gigabit easy managed switch with four 802.3af/at PoE+ ports (V2 on the AU page). It has a 65 W PoE budget with up to 30 W per port, Fast PoE, Perpetual PoE, PoE Auto Recovery and a 250 m long-range PoE mode, plus VLAN, port isolation, QoS and IGMP snooping, in a fanless metal case with Omada cloud management.

ES205GP overview

The ES205GP is TP-Link's Omada 5-port Gigabit easy managed switch with 4-port PoE+, and the AU product page shows hardware version V2. It is the PoE version of the ES205G: the two share the same 100 x 98 x 25 mm metal case, five Gigabit ports and 10 Gbps switching capacity, but on the ES205GP four of the five ports supply 802.3af PoE and 802.3at PoE+, so one cable carries both data and power to cameras, access points or phones without the hassle and cost of installing power cabling. TP-Link says it automatically detects and supplies the required power to PoE-enabled devices.

The PoE budget is 65 W across the four PoE+ ports, with up to 30 W on any single port, which covers typical Wi-Fi 6 access points or several fixed cameras. TP-Link notes that PoE budget calculations are based on laboratory testing and the actual budget is not guaranteed. Fast PoE and Perpetual PoE are supported, PoE Auto Recovery is available in Standalone Mode and IntelliRecover in Controller Mode, so a hung device can be power-cycled automatically. For cameras on long runs, a long-range mode extends PoE transmission to up to 250 m (820 ft), with the port speed downgraded to 10 Mbps; actual distance depends on cable quality.

TP-Link pitches the ES205GP at reliable surveillance networking, highlighting long-range PoE, QoS, PoE Auto Recovery and port isolation. All ports are 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 with auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDIX. Performance figures are 10 Gbps switching capacity, a 7.4 Mpps forwarding rate, a 4 Mbit buffer, an 8K MAC table and 15 KB jumbo frames. Layer 2 features include 802.1Q tag VLAN (32 groups, 4K VIDs), static link aggregation, loopback detection, 802.3x flow control, port mirroring, LLDP and IGMP v1/v2/v3 snooping with fast leave. QoS covers port-based, 802.1p and DSCP priority with eight queues in Standalone Mode, plus bandwidth control, rate limiting and storm control; in Controller Mode QoS rules are used.

It is plug-and-play out of the box, with a web-based GUI, DHCP client and cable diagnostics for standalone use. With an Omada hardware, software or cloud-based controller (built-in version 6.1.0 or later) it gains centralised cloud management via the web or the Omada app, automatic device discovery, batch configuration and firmware upgrades, and unified configuration. Zero-touch provisioning requires the Omada Cloud-Based Controller, and ONVIF is supported only in Controller Mode. TP-Link says it works with Omada Central Essentials, ideal for surveillance networks and small businesses.

The ES205GP is fanless in a durable metal casing with a physical security lock slot, for desktop or wall mounting. It is powered by an AC/DC adapter with 53.5 V DC / 1.31 A output (100-240 V AC input), and the box includes the switch, power adapter, power cord, mounting feet and installation guide. Surge protection is ±6 kV, the operating range is -5 to 40 °C, and it carries FCC and CE certification.
