The TP-Link EAP620 HD is an Omada AX1800 dual-band Wi-Fi 6 ceiling mount access point built for busy, high-density environments. It delivers 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz with MU-MIMO, OFDMA and 1024-QAM, and TP-Link lists 1,000+ concurrent connections and up to 140 m² coverage. It has one Gigabit port powered by 802.3at PoE+, 48 V passive PoE or 12 V / 1.5 A DC (adapter included), and supports Omada mesh, seamless roaming and Omada Central cloud management.

EAP620 HD overview

The EAP620 HD is TP-Link's Omada AX1800 dual-band ceiling mount Wi-Fi 6 access point, shown as V3.30 on the Australian page. HD stands for its high-density focus: TP-Link says it delivers reliable connectivity and enhanced capacity for busy environments, using core Wi-Fi 6 technologies to efficiently manage more simultaneous connections. It is 4-stream dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (IEEE 802.11ax/ac/n/g/b/a) with up to 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. OFDMA lets multiple devices share channels efficiently to reduce latency in dense environments, MU-MIMO supports more simultaneous device connections, 1024-QAM lifts data rates, and 4x longer OFDM symbols are listed.

Capacity is the headline. The datasheet lists up to 1,000+ concurrent connections in crowded network environments, and the AU product page states 1,020+ concurrent clients; TP-Link notes that actual capacity depends on the wireless environment and client traffic. Coverage is listed at up to 140 m² (1,500 ft²), calculated from laboratory testing. That is a step up from TP-Link's entry-level EAP613, which shares the AX1800 rating and 160 x 160 mm housing but is listed at 250+ clients and 115 m², and which runs on 802.3af. The EAP620 HD antennas are two 4 dBi on 2.4 GHz and two 5 dBi on 5 GHz.

Wired connectivity is one Gigabit PoE+ port, which TP-Link describes as delivering high-performance wired throughput, with 802.3at PoE compatibility for flexible deployment. The listed power options are 802.3at PoE, 48 V passive PoE and 12 V / 1.5 A DC, and a power adapter is included in the box. Maximum consumption is 14.4 W on PoE and 13.1 W on DC for the EU version (14.9 W and 13.4 W for the US version), so plan for an 802.3at PoE+ switch port rather than 802.3af. The housing measures 160 x 160 x 33.6 mm and the main unit weighs 0.38 kg. Ceiling, wall and junction box mounting kits are included (the datasheet also lists T-bar mounting), and operating temperature is 0 to 40 °C.

For networks, the EAP620 HD supports up to 16 SSIDs (eight per band) for a secure guest network, plus automatic channel assignment, transmit power control, WMM QoS, band steering, load balance, airtime fairness, beamforming, rate limits, schedules and wireless statistics. Security includes captive portal authentication, access control, MAC filtering, client isolation, SSID-to-VLAN mapping, rogue AP detection, 802.1X and WEP, WPA, WPA2 and WPA3 Personal and Enterprise. Centralised management is through Omada Central (cloud-based), an Omada hardware controller or an Omada software controller, with the Omada app; cloud access requires a controller, zero-touch provisioning requires a controller and is supported on EAP620 HD v2.0 and above, and Omada mesh, 802.11k/v/r roaming and captive portal also need a controller. The datasheet lists Omada Controller and Omada CBC V5.15 and above and Omada App V4.24 and above. It is CE and FCC certified.
