The TP-Link EAP613 is an Omada AX1800 dual-band Wi-Fi 6 ceiling mount access point that TP-Link positions as its entry-level Wi-Fi 6 choice. It delivers up to 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz with MU-MIMO, OFDMA and 1024-QAM, supports 250+ concurrent clients and covers up to 115 m² (lab tested). The V2 sold in Australia has one Gigabit port and runs on 802.3af PoE, 48 V passive PoE or 12 V DC (adapter not included), with Omada SDN, mesh and seamless roaming.

EAP613 overview

The EAP613 is TP-Link's Omada AX1800 4-stream dual-band ceiling mount Wi-Fi 6 access point, which TP-Link describes as the ideal choice for an entry-level Wi-Fi 6 solution, delivering a fast, reliable and secure dual-band Wi-Fi 6 experience. The Australian page shows hardware version V2. It supports IEEE 802.11ax/ac/n/g/b/a with up to 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. Wi-Fi 6 features include OFDMA, which lets multiple devices share channels efficiently to reduce latency in dense environments, MU-MIMO for more simultaneous connections, 1024-QAM, which TP-Link says gives 25% faster data rates than Wi-Fi 5, and 4x longer OFDM symbols.

Capacity and coverage are sized for small to medium rooms and offices. TP-Link lists 250+ concurrent clients and coverage of up to 115 m² (1,250 ft²). Coverage is calculated from laboratory testing and is not guaranteed, and TP-Link notes actual capacity depends on the wireless environment and client traffic. The internal omni antennas are two 4 dBi on 2.4 GHz and two 5 dBi on 5 GHz, inside a slim 160 x 160 x 33.6 mm housing that weighs 0.385 kg according to the datasheet. Wireless functions include up to 16 SSIDs (eight per band), automatic channel assignment, transmit power control, WMM QoS, band steering, load balance, airtime fairness, beamforming, rate limits, schedules and wireless statistics by SSID, AP or client.

Wiring is simple. The EAP613 has one Gigabit Ethernet port, and V2 accepts three power sources: 802.3af PoE, 48 V passive PoE or 12 V / 1 A DC. TP-Link states the power adapter is not included, so most installs will use a PoE switch or injector. Maximum consumption is 10.9 W on PoE and 9.9 W on DC. For installation, TP-Link describes a push up and rotate to lock design, with ceiling and wall mounting kits plus junction box mounting included. Operating temperature is 0 to 40 °C, as expected for an indoor ceiling AP.

Management runs through Omada SDN with one-click setup, centralised via the Omada cloud-based controller, an Omada hardware controller or an Omada software controller, plus the Omada app. Cloud access requires an Omada controller and zero-touch provisioning requires the Omada cloud-based controller. Omada mesh, seamless roaming (802.11k/v/r) and captive portal also need an Omada controller; the datasheet adds non-stick roaming, ping-pong roaming suppression and AI roaming, Layer 2 roaming only, and lists Omada Controller and Omada Essential V5.15.24 and above and Omada App V4.24 and above. Security covers captive portal authentication, access control, MAC filtering, client isolation, SSID-to-VLAN mapping, rogue AP detection, 802.1X and WPA/WPA2/WPA3 Personal and Enterprise. Standalone tools include HTTP/HTTPS web management, SSH, SNMP v1/v2c/v3, local and remote syslog, L3 and multi-site management, management VLAN and LED control. It is CE and FCC certified.
