The Cisco C9105AXW-Z in depth

Wi-Fi 6 and wired ports in one wall plate

The Catalyst 9105AXW is Cisco's wall plate Wi-Fi 6 access point, designed for hospitality, residence halls and other multi-dwelling units. It replaces a standard data outlet with a 2x2 Wi-Fi 6 AP plus three Gigabit LAN ports, and the -Z part number is the Australia/New Zealand regulatory domain version.

Power out for in-room devices

On 802.3at PoE+ the LAN1 port can power a device with a 10.5W budget (or the USB port can be used instead). The uplink is 2.5G Multigigabit, and Cisco User Defined Network lets residents run their own private wireless partition on the shared network.

Lifecycle

The AP is managed by Cisco Catalyst 9800 controllers. Cisco has announced end-of-sale for the C9105AXW-Z on December 31, 2026, with support to December 31, 2031, and lists the Wireless 9172H as its migration product.
