The TP-Link Beam Bridge 5 UR KIT is a preconfigured pair of Omada 5 GHz 867 Mbps ultra-range wireless bridges for point-to-point links of up to 15 km. Each bridge has 2x2 23 dBi dual-polarised directional antennas, one Gigabit PoE-in port that accepts 802.3af or 24/48 V passive PoE (adapters included), an IP65 enclosure, 6 kV lightning protection and a -40 to 70 °C operating range, with app-guided alignment and Omada SDN management.

Beam Bridge 5 UR KIT overview

The Beam Bridge 5 UR KIT is TP-Link's Omada 5 GHz 867 Mbps ultra-range indoor/outdoor wireless bridge kit. TP-Link describes it as an enterprise-grade Wi-Fi bridge kit engineered for transmission of up to 15 km (9.3 mi), delivering point-to-point connectivity in remote outdoor environments such as forests, mining sites, islands and other hard-to-reach locations where extending network access is critical. The kit contains two Beam Bridge 5 UR units, two passive PoE adapters, two power cords, two mounting kits and one installation guide, so both ends of the link are covered in one box. TP-Link notes that the advertised range is calculated from laboratory testing, and actual coverage is not guaranteed and will vary with the equipped antennas, client limitations and environmental factors.

Each bridge works on 5 GHz only to IEEE 802.11a/n/ac, with 2x2 MIMO and two spatial streams, 20/40/80 MHz channel widths and 256-QAM modulation. The 802.11ac data rate runs from 8.6 Mbps to 866 Mbps (MCS0 to MCS9), and 802.11n from 8.6 Mbps to 300 Mbps. The antennas are external 2x2 dual-polarised directional MIMO antennas rated at 23 dBi peak gain, with a narrow 9° horizontal and 7° vertical beamwidth that concentrates the signal on the far end of the link. The datasheet lists frequency bands from U-NII-1 to U-NII-3 with DFS channels, subject to country-specific restrictions, and transmit power that is adjustable in 1 dBm steps and depends on local regulations. Point-to-point is the headline mode, and the datasheet also lists point-to-multipoint for up to four, with a maximum of eight associated stations.

Setup is designed to be quick. The two bridges are preconfigured for instant PtP auto-pairing, so TP-Link says you can simply power on and go. A role DIP switch sets each unit as the Main AP or Client AP, a system mode selection button switches between Standalone and Omada SDN mode, and four RSSI LEDs show signal strength while you aim. For longer links the Omada app shows real-time signal strength for app-guided alignment, and can verify the installation, run speed tests and help troubleshoot the connection. Other listed tools include channel optimisation, automatic channel selection, SSID and client rate limits, a guest network, rogue AP detection, SSID and management VLANs, and ping, traceroute, packet capture and terminal tools.

Power and data run over one cable. Each bridge has a single 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet port with PoE in that accepts 802.3af PoE (pins 1,2 and 3,6) or 24 V or 48 V passive PoE (+4,5 and -7,8), and a passive PoE adapter is included for each unit. Maximum power consumption is 15.8 W on 802.3af PoE, and idle consumption is listed at 2.87 W. For outdoor durability the enclosure is IP65 for pole mounting, the Ethernet port has ±6 kV lightning protection, the windproof class is 16 and the operating range is -40 to 70 °C with 10 to 90% non-condensing humidity. TP-Link notes that lightning and ESD protection depend on proper setup, grounding and cable shielding.

For management, the bridges can run standalone with web-based management, SSH, SNMP v1/v2c/v3, NTP, email alerts, LED on/off control, reboot and WLAN schedules, firmware upgrade and backup and restore. In Omada SDN mode they are managed centrally through Omada Central (cloud-based), an Omada hardware controller or an Omada software controller; cloud access requires an Omada controller and zero-touch provisioning is supported. The datasheet lists Omada Controller and Omada Essential V5.15.24 and above, and Omada App V4.25 and above. Each main unit measures 366 x 280 x 207 mm and weighs 1.1 kg, and the kit carries CE and FCC certification.
