Why choose the DS-2CE79U7T-AIT3ZF

The Hikvision DS-2CE79U7T-AIT3ZF combines the two things that matter most on an analog upgrade: 4K resolution and a motorised varifocal lens. You get 8 MP detail over existing coax, and you set the field of view remotely from the recorder with auto-focus as it zooms — no ladder work when coverage needs adjusting. EXIR infrared reaches 60 m, 130 dB true WDR handles backlight, and it runs from 12 V DC or 24 V AC. Supplied and supported by ARC IP Networks, an authorised Australian Hikvision reseller, with genuine stock, Australian warranty and local support.

Before you order — this is an analog camera. It sends video over coaxial cable and needs a Turbo HD / HD-TVI DVR. It will not work with an NVR, and it has no Ethernet port and no PoE. Because it records at 8 MP, your DVR must also support 8 MP / 4K TVI input — a 5 MP-max recorder will run the camera but not at full resolution. Not sure what you have? Ask us and we will check.

Best for

  • Upgrading an existing analog system: modern resolution over the coax already in the walls, no rewiring.
  • Sites where Ethernet is impractical: heritage buildings, long cable runs, or where re-cabling is not worth the cost.
  • Mixed-brand recorders: 4-in-1 output works with TVI, AHD, CVI or CVBS systems.
  • Cameras mounted at height: set zoom and focus remotely instead of climbing to adjust.

Professional Overview

The Hikvision DS-2CE79U7T-AIT3ZF 8MP Outdoor EXIR Turret Camera is a sophisticated surveillance solution meticulously engineered for demanding outdoor environments requiring both broad coverage and detailed focus. Delivering a stunning 8.3MP (4K) resolution, this camera captures exceptionally clear and detailed images, crucial for precise identification and comprehensive monitoring. Its standout feature is the 2.7-13.5mm motorized vari-focal lens with auto-focus, allowing for flexible adjustment of the viewing angle and zoom level remotely, making it adaptable to various monitoring needs without manual intervention post-installation.

Equipped with advanced EXIR 2.0 technology, the camera offers an extended 60-meter infrared illumination range, guaranteeing superior night vision capabilities. Its ultra-low light performance of 0.003 Lux at F1.2 ensures that even in dimly lit conditions, the camera can capture clear and usable footage. The inclusion of 130dB True WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) technology further enhances image quality by ensuring optimal exposure in scenes with stark lighting contrasts, such as bright entrances against dark interiors, preventing over-exposure and under-exposure simultaneously.

Designed for durability and flexible integration, the DS-2CE79U7T-AIT3ZF boasts an IP67 rating, making it highly resistant to dust and water, ensuring reliable operation in various harsh weather conditions. Its unique support for TVI, AHD, CVI, and CVBS video signal outputs makes it incredibly versatile, allowing seamless integration into existing analog HD or traditional analog CCTV systems, simplifying upgrades and reducing compatibility concerns. The OSD (On-Screen Display) menu, accessible via Up the Coax control, allows for convenient remote configuration of all camera settings, including zoom and focus.

With features like 3D DNR (Digital Noise Reduction) to deliver cleaner images by reducing video noise, and Smart IR to adjust IR intensity automatically based on distance to the subject, this camera provides consistent high-quality surveillance around the clock. The dual 12VDC/24VDC power input offers greater flexibility in power source selection. The Hikvision DS-2CE79U7T-AIT3ZF is an excellent choice for commercial and residential applications requiring a robust, high-resolution outdoor camera with superior low-light performance, adaptable focal length, extended night vision, versatile compatibility, and enduring reliability.

How it compares

All three are IP67 Turbo HD analog turrets with 130 dB true WDR, 0.003 lux low-light performance and 4-in-1 switchable output. The choice is between fixed or motorised lens, and between 5 MP at 20 fps or 4K at 15 fps.

Complete your system

This camera records to a Turbo HD / HD-TVI DVR over coaxial cable, and needs a 12 V DC power supply at the camera or a 24 V AC supply. If you are moving to IP instead, our HiLook and Hikvision network cameras run power and data over a single Ethernet cable from a PoE recorder.

Works with your system

Analog or IP? Turbo HD gives you modern resolution over existing coaxial cable, which is usually the cheapest route when the cabling is already there. A new installation is generally better served by IP cameras, which add on-camera AI, audio and single-cable PoE power.

Frequently asked questions

No. This is an analog (Turbo HD) camera — it sends video over coaxial cable, not Ethernet. It needs a Turbo HD / HD-TVI DVR. NVRs record IP cameras over a network and cannot accept a coax signal. Because this is an 8 MP camera, the DVR must also be rated for 8 MP / 4K TVI input — a recorder that caps at 5 MP will still work but will not record at full resolution.

It is a 4-in-1 camera — switchable between TVI, AHD, CVI and CVBS. That means it will work with almost any modern analog recorder regardless of brand. TVI is the native Hikvision format and gives full resolution.

In most cases yes. That is the main reason to choose Turbo HD over IP — you get modern resolution over the cabling already in the walls, without pulling Ethernet to every camera position. Cable quality and run length still matter, so ask us if you are unsure.

No. The DS-2CE79U7T-AIT3ZF has no microphone and no audio of any kind. Hikvision indicates audio-over-coax with an S in the model number, which this camera does not carry.

No. This is a conventional analog camera with no deep-learning analytics. Motion detection is handled by the recorder. If you need on-camera human and vehicle classification, that requires an IP camera and an NVR.

It lets you set the zoom and field of view remotely from the recorder, across 2.7–13.5 mm, and it auto-focuses as it zooms. On a fixed-lens camera you have to physically go to the camera and adjust it by hand. This is not a PTZ — it does not pan or tilt, it only zooms.

12 V DC plus/minus 20% or 24 V AC plus/minus 20%, max 11 W. Accepting either 12 V DC or 24 V AC makes it easy to retrofit into older installations that already run AC power to the camera positions. It does not support Power over Coax (PoC), so it needs its own power supply.

Wide Dynamic Range handles scenes with both bright and dark areas — a doorway with sunlight behind it, for example. True WDR captures multiple exposures in hardware and combines them; digital WDR just adjusts brightness in software and is far less effective. This camera has 130 dB true WDR, which is at the top of the range.

Yes. It has an IP67-rated metal housing and operates from −40 °C to 60 °C. No vandal (IK) rating is published for this model.
