Professional Overview

The Ubiquiti UISP Router is a high-performance, cost-effective routing and switching solution specifically engineered for the needs of Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISPs). As a core component of the UISP ecosystem, it is designed to be the central hub of a Micro Point of Presence (MicroPoP), providing robust connectivity, versatile power options, and centralized management in a compact, reliable package.

The router's primary strength lies in its powerful connectivity and integrated Power over Ethernet. It features eight Gigabit RJ45 ports, all of which provide 27V passive PoE output. This allows the router to directly power a full suite of Ubiquiti airMAX and other 24V-class radios, eliminating the need for numerous individual PoE injectors and creating a much cleaner, more manageable installation. For a high-speed connection back to the network core, a dedicated 1G SFP port is included, enabling a reliable fiber uplink that is immune to the electrical interference common at tower sites.

Engineered for deployment in a variety of environments, the UISP Router features a fanless, silent design and a compact, wall-mountable form factor. This makes it ideal for installation in small equipment closets or outdoor enclosures where space and noise are concerns. Its entire feature set is managed through the intuitive and powerful UISP application, a centralized platform that allows service providers to configure, monitor, and manage all of their UISP devices from a single pane of glass. This simplifies network operations and reduces truck rolls, making the UISP Router an intelligent and indispensable tool for building scalable and profitable WISP networks.
