Professional Overview

The MikroTik cAP ac (RBcAPGi-5acD2nD) is a concurrent dual-band 802.11ac access point built for discreet ceiling or wall mounting in offices, hotels, apartments and other high-density indoor environments. Its low-profile round or square enclosure radiates coverage in 360 degrees around the unit, delivering AC1200-class Wi-Fi across the 2.4 GHz (802.11b/g/n) and 5 GHz (802.11a/n/ac) bands simultaneously.

Performance comes from a quad-core Qualcomm IPQ-4018 ARM processor clocked at 488–896 MHz with 128 MB of RAM and 16 MB of onboard flash. The 2.4 GHz radio runs two chains at up to 300 Mbit/s with 2 dBi antennas, while the 5 GHz radio reaches 867 Mbit/s over two chains with 2.5 dBi antennas. Hardware IPsec acceleration provides up to 424 Mbit/s of AES-encrypted throughput for secure VPN tunnels between sites.

The cAP ac runs a full RouterOS Level 4 licence, giving administrators enterprise features such as stateful firewalling, VPN, QoS, VLAN segmentation, hotspot/captive portal and central management of multiple units through CAPsMAN. Two Gigabit Ethernet ports allow wired backhaul or daisy-chaining: Ether1 accepts 802.3af/at PoE input (17–57 V), and Ether2 provides passive PoE output up to 57 V (500 mA) to power a downstream AP or camera.

The unit is passively cooled for silent, fan-free operation, carries an IP20 rating and is tested from -40°C to 50°C, with an MTBF of roughly 100,000 hours. It is certified to CE, FCC, IC, EAC and RoHS and ships complete with a 24 V 1.2 A power adapter, Gigabit PoE injector, ceiling mount and K-46 screw kit. Australian stock from ARC IP Networks.
