What is the IPC-T383H-MU and what makes it different from standard HiLook cameras?

The HiLook IPC-T383H-MU is an 8 MP (4K) outdoor turret network camera from the HiLook Pro range. It is distinguished from standard HiLook cameras by its F1.2 aperture lens (versus the typical F1.6), which admits significantly more light and improves low-light performance; its Smart Hybrid Light system combining IR and white-light illuminators; AcuSense human and vehicle classification to reduce false alarms; and a built-in microphone for audio security. The result is a camera that delivers professional-grade detection accuracy and colour-at-night capability at a price point suitable for small business and residential installations.

What resolution and frame rate does the IPC-T383H-MU record at?

The camera records at a maximum of 3840 × 2160 (8 MP / 4K UHD) at 12.5 fps on the main stream under 50 Hz power (Australian standard). It can also record at up to 20 fps when the resolution is reduced to 3200 × 1800, 2688 × 1520 (5 MP), 1920 × 1080 (Full HD), or 1280 × 720 (HD). The sub-stream supports 20 fps at 1280 × 720 and lower. H.265+ compression is available to reduce storage requirements by up to 75 % compared with H.264.

How does Smart Hybrid Light work on the IPC-T383H-MU?

Smart Hybrid Light integrates two supplemental light sources in one housing: an 850 nm IR illuminator for covert night-time monitoring, and a white-light LED for colour illumination. In standard night mode the camera uses IR to produce black-and-white footage without attracting attention. When an AcuSense event (human or vehicle detection) is triggered, the camera can automatically activate the white-light LED to capture full-colour evidence footage and optionally deter the intruder. Both illuminators have a stated range of up to 30 m. The Smart Supplement Light feature automatically adjusts light intensity based on scene reflectivity to avoid overexposure on close subjects.

Does the IPC-T383H-MU require a separate power supply or does it support PoE?

The camera supports IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE), Class 3, drawing a maximum of 6.5 W. This means a single Cat5e or better cable carries both data and power from a PoE switch or PoE injector to the camera — no separate power run is required. For installations without a PoE switch, the camera also accepts 12 VDC (5.5 mm coaxial plug) at a maximum of 5 W. Reverse polarity protection is included.

Is the IPC-T383H-MU suitable for outdoor use in Australian conditions?

Yes. The camera carries an IP67 ingress-protection rating (IEC 60529-2013), meaning it is fully dust-tight and can withstand sustained water jets from any direction — suitable for exposed outdoor installation in rain, dust, and humidity. Its operating temperature range is –30 °C to 60 °C and storage range is the same, covering all Australian climate zones from alpine to tropical. The housing is constructed from metal for additional durability. RCM certification (AS/NZS CISPR 32:2015) confirms regulatory compliance for the Australian and New Zealand markets.

What NVR or VMS software is compatible with the IPC-T383H-MU?

The IPC-T383H-MU supports ONVIF Profile S and Profile T, ensuring compatibility with any ONVIF-compliant NVR or Video Management System (VMS) from any manufacturer. For the best AcuSense smart-event integration (human/vehicle filters, event push, remote playback), it is recommended to pair with a HiLook or Hikvision NVR running iVMS-4200 or Hik-Connect. Up to 32 users and 6 simultaneous live-view streams are supported. Hikvision’s ISAPI and SDK are also available for custom integrations.

Professional Overview

The HiLook IPC-T383H-MU brings 4K resolution and AcuSense artificial intelligence to the accessible HiLook Pro range, filling a critical gap between entry-level IP cameras and full Hikvision Pro-series hardware. With a 1/2.4″ Progressive Scan CMOS sensor resolving 3840 × 2160 pixels, every frame contains exceptional detail for post-event review, number-plate identification at moderate range, and facial recognition at short range — capabilities that were once reserved for high-end commercial deployments.

The combination of an F1.2 aperture and Smart Hybrid Light (IR + white-light, up to 30 m) addresses the most common failure mode of budget cameras: loss of useful footage at night. The F1.2 lens gathers more than twice the light of a comparable F1.6 lens, reducing sensor noise and retaining colour in streetlit environments. When AcuSense detects a human or vehicle, the camera can switch to white-light mode for full-colour evidence capture — a decisive advantage for insurance claims, theft investigations, and court proceedings.

AcuSense deep-learning classification filters perimeter alarms down to human and vehicle targets only. Pets, moving trees, rain, and passing headlight reflections that routinely trigger conventional motion-detection cameras are suppressed, reducing alarm fatigue and ensuring that when a notification fires, it is actionable. Line crossing and intrusion detection smart events build on this foundation to protect defined zones around doorways, fence lines, car parks, and access roads without operator intervention.

Installation is simplified by a single PoE cable (IEEE 802.3af), the fixed 2.8 mm wide-angle lens delivering a 119.6° horizontal field of view, and the three-axis gimbal mount allowing pan, tilt, and rotation adjustment after the housing is secured to the ceiling or wall. The metal housing meets IP67 for outdoor durability, carries RCM certification for the Australian and New Zealand market, and operates across the full –30 °C to 60 °C range.
